Why Should People Learn Spanish?

I remember the first time I visited Mexico. It is a beautiful country. I was young so naturally, I went with my parents. None of us could speak more than a few words of Spanish. We had a vague idea of how the Mexican currency worked, but we were clueless when it came to how much to pay people at restaurants and the shops. Let’s just say it was an interesting experience (and I’m sure we were overcharged a number of times).

Oftentimes, it’s when you have to go without it that you realize ho ........Click here to read more.....

Spanish Lessons

I have recently thought about taking Spanish lessons. I took some Spanish in high school, but I guess I didn’t learn as much as I should. I think I took about nine weeks, but in the end I could only count to seven and say hello and thank you in that language. That’s not the worst of it though. I took two years of French and I remember even less of it than that. I have considered taking Spanish lessons as of late because I have a daughter who, at age five, has surpassed my knowledge of the la ........Click here to read more.....

Learn Spanish – Quick And Easy

The first thing I discovered upon my arrival in Caracas was that I remembered much less Spanish than I thought I did. As it had been over five years since I had taken a Spanish course I guess I really shouldn’t have been surprised right? Who can really expect to remember much from a high school course that was mediocre at best? As I tried desperately to order a simple sandwich and something to drink, I realized that if I didn’t at least attempt to learn Spanish I would most likely starve ........Click here to read more.....

Learning Spanish - Part 6 - What’s The Best Way to Learn Spanish Verb Formations?

In my last article I started to talk about a Spanish textbook called ‘Pasos’. This was the textbook I used when I first started learning Spanish. When I started studying from it I didn’t use it to its full potential. This was really down to time constraints and the fact I was about to embark on a long trip to central and South America. I wanted to finish the book before I set off.

The point of the article was really to warn others against falling into the same trap if possible. This parti ........Click here to read more.....

Learning Spanish: How To Begin

Learning Spanish Part Seven : How To Begin

The Horse, as I wrote previously, is spoken fluency. I made the point that long before they go off to first grade, children already have a high degree of spoken fluency in their native tongue before they learn the parts of speech or memorize grammar rules. It is my contention, and the premise of this book, this is exactly what you need long before you enroll in a formal foreign language course. Long before you begin to learn the difference ........Click here to read more.....
